New Landscape for Children and Families in California
On Wednesday, June 26th, 2019, Governor Gavin Newsom signed California’s 2019-20 state budget into law. Newsom’s administration, which includes several early childhood education (ECE) experts, has consistently emphasized its commitment to prioritizing the needs of our state’s children and families.
highlights:
 ECE Master Plan Roadmap
 12-month eligibility for Stage 1 child care
 Additional Alternative Payment program slots
 Reimbursement rate reform
 Funding for home visiting programs
 Expanded funding for Emergency Child Care Bridge Program for Foster Children
 Grant funding for child care facilities
 Funding for provider professional development stipends
 Expansion of full-day Kindergarten programs
Governor Newsom is committed to expanding access to child development services, and the passage is a great start towards achieving the lofty goals of this new administration. We are grateful for the tireless efforts of advocates across California for helping to secure these investments including Speaker Anthony Rendon and Senate Pro Tem Toni Atkins, and the California Legislative Women’s Caucus.
We will continue to work with advocates, child care providers and families to educate the legislature and administration regarding programs and services
designed to improve the lives of families in California. Follow us on social media and visit our website, ccrcca.org, for the latest updates.
