 Community Based Child Care
The Next Generation of Care
CCRC hosted 434 activities – provider trainings, story time, playgroups, outreach events and one-on-one technical assistance – to promote professional development and quality improvement. During the pandemic, 107 care providers completed a total of 177 classes and 2,243 hours of CCRC training. Our virtual sessions were attended by over 80 percent of CCRC providers.
Join us for a virtual
playgroup experience!
During our weekly sessions:
• Our early childhood experts will plan activities that encourage adult-child interaction throughout the session and beyond.
• All activities and experiences are based on topics that will prepare children for success in school and life.
• Children and their caregivers will engage with other
participants while singing songs, reading stories, and
participating in interactive activities.
• Walk away with tools and resources to help create quality
early childhood experiences in your home.

We assisted 269 people with becoming licensed and supported 16 providers with expanding their license. In total, these interactions resulted in 64 program participants becoming newly licensed and eight participants expanding their licenses with CCRC’s help. These new providers then opened Family Child Care Home programs, increasing the number of licensed child care providers in our region.

Child Care Resource Center’s Building Early Education Strategies (BEES)
program aims to provide timely consultation to ensure that child care providers, children, and their families receive the support they need to strengthen the child’s social and emotional development. It follows the guidelines set forth by Georgetown University’s Center of Excellence for Infant & Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation.
Its three fundamental goals are to:
▶ Assist child care providers in building upon their skills and knowledge to support the social and emotional development of children.
▶ Support the caregiver(s) in a child’s life to increase understanding and awareness about social and emotional development of children.
▶ Collaborate with child care programs to embed equitable and inclusive practices to support the mental health of infants and young children and families.
Consultations are available to child care providers in the Antelope Valley. We offer virtual, over the phone, or in person at a safe and confidential setting including a Head Start, Child Care Center, Family Child Care Provider, or a Friends and Family Neighbors location.

Trauma-Informed Support
Mental Health & Wellness
Building Early Education Strategies (BEES) is a mental health consultation program that offers providers a classroom- focused consultation. In the program’s first three months, the consultant met with five child care centers. Each provider said the interaction helped them better understand the children’s behavior and identify areas of improvement in their approach. BEES provides early educators with feedback about their program that identifies progress, strengths and additional improvements later on.
The most rewarding thing is to know that I am supporting families with their parenting and resources they may need. I help empower them to be the best advocates for their families.
- Provider
Trauma Informed Care (TIC) staff saw a dramatic increase in provider attendance after they converted all TIC modules to virtual. Even providers from counties outside our service area participated. To ensure providers were educated on diversity, equity, social justice and inclusion, Historical Trauma training was added.
