 Expanding the Field
Child Care Initiative Project (CCIP)
CCIP curriculum is free, multilingual, strength-based, culturally relevant, and trauma-informed. Training across California’s 12 ECE Competencies include health and safety, growing, learning and caring. The year-long CCIP training includes a minimum of 26 hours in child development and small business practices. The program is grounded in health and safety best practices, the California Department of Education (CDE) Infant and Toddler (I/T) and Preschool Foundations and I/T and Preschool Frameworks and the California Early Childhood Educator (ECE) Competencies. While participants work to complete their CCIP training, they may also choose to pursue their Gateways Passport, which includes additional training opportunities that lead to recognition as a Karen Kaye Award recipient. We recognized 11 providers with the Karen Kaye Award.
This program has helped me so much personally and professionally. All the training strategies and topics are relevant to what we as caretakers do every day—the challenges we face with all the children. I have been in this business for more than 20 years, and isn’t until now that I am connecting and understanding children’s behaviors.
-Provider We Hold Your Hand, While You Hold Theirs
Thanks to a generous grant from the Stein Family Fund at the California Community Foundation, Family Child Care Journeys offer high quality videos featuring a mix of animation and live action to make this learning experience entertaining. In order reach a wider audience, one of the videos is in Spanish. Whether parents are Finding Quality Child Care, looking for A Career in Family Child Care or learning how Child Care supports Working Families, CCRC is here to help families understand quality care and where to find it.
I like how hands on the activities are and how involved the CCRC staff is. They work with you in specific areas to help your child grow. They find activities that are educational yet fun that kids will enjoy doing. They also host fun socials where the kids get to play together and the parents get to be social with other parents, as well.
