Scale but this has not been able to happen. However, recent movement in some QRIS programs nationally is to move away from this measure as an outcome measure. One study found that coaching had a significant impact on observed quality using these scales but programs did not increase in overall ratings because other components of the overall rating were not impacted.lviii Many conversations about appropriate measures are occurring nationally and this is a particular topic in the monthly workgroup meetings hosted by BUILD on Validation of QRIS. It is recommended that these groups be followed closely to ensure that any measures that are deemed valid for assessing quality improvement be considered for future programing.
It is recommended these findings are presented to the executives, management, and staff of this program to obtain feedback and provide context to the findings as well as develop programmatic goals for the year as the program shifts towards providing coaching activities for early childhood educators through Quality Start Los Angeles and IMPACT. A presentation to statewide R&R agencies has been submitted and feedback from the audience will also help inform program development.
