   Gateways for Early Educators
this year to that of prior years, the breadth of impact continues to be evident in the substantial number of unique individuals trained across the county.
Given the contracts that was continued this year with the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health (LACDPH) (one with the Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health unit called Choose Health LA Child Care funded by First 5 LA and one with the Emergency Preparedness and Response Program) there continued to be a significant number of Health, Safety and Nutrition trainings offered in 2015-16. This year, there were 297, even more than the 282 trainings offered last year in Health, Safety and Nutrition. This compares to 241 in 2013-2014 and 52 in 2012-2013, prior to contracting with LACDPH. These contracts may also account for the participants with a lower depth of impact in terms of training hours. That is, participants who may not have already been engaged in Gateways trainings may have recently started attending as they participated in trainings offered through the contracts with LACDPH and may have a lower average number of trainings accumulated.

*This is an unduplicated number of participants trained across the county in 2015-2016. The Los Angeles County unduplicated number is less than the sum of participants for each R&R agency because participants who attended trainings at multiple R&R agencies are counted a different time under each agency they attended, but only once in the LA County total.
Table 4 shows the number of training sessions per strand area at each R&R agency. This table nicely illustrates the result of partnering with multiple agencies and funders. The Health, Safety, and Nutrition (HSN) area has the greatest number of trainings by far than other areas. This is a direct result of partnering with LACDPH’s program Choose Health LA Child Care (CHLACC) to offer more trainings in the area of health and nutrition. This is a significant strength of the Gateways training program. It provides the solid foundation that has been in place for decades allowing other programs to easily and seamlessly partner with CCALA and deliver valuable training resources to ECE professionals across LA County.
