   Gateways for Early Educators
A review of the reasons that participants dis-enroll from the Gateways Program was part of the Scope of Work. However, because the 2015-2016 program year was the last year of the program, coaches worked closely with coaching participants to support them in completing their goals and in transitioning out of the Gateways Program. Therefore at the end of the program year, all participants had exited the program. However, the analysis below focuses only on individuals who exited for reasons other than the program ending. In addition, while coaches worked to transition participants out of the Gateways Program, coaches tracked whether participants were able to complete their goals at program’s end. Program numbers indicate that 316 participants dis-enrolled from the program for reasons other than the program ending. About half (44.3%) of participants exited the program because they completed the program. This is similar to last year’s 48.7%. The second and third highest reasons for exiting the program were because participants could not be reached (16.8%) or they were no longer interested in the program (16.5%). The remaining participants left for other reasons including, non-participation, work obligations, medical reason, no longer doing child care, because they moved out of the area, etc. See Table 25 for reasons participants left the program.
Coaches also tracked information about the 512 participants who exited the program because the program was reaching an end. About one third (35.5%) of participants completed their goals before ending the program, the remaining 64.4% did not complete their goals at program’s end. This may be an indication of continued need for a coaching program.
Completed the Gateways Program 44.3%
Cannot be reached 16.8%
No longer interested 16.5%
Non-participation 7.3%
Work obligations 5.4%
Medical reason 4.0%
No longer doing child care 2.8%
Moved 2.5%
Other (including financial, program closed, etc.) 2.8%
