Furthermore, of the 28 parents who indicated that they had difficulty in receiving or contacting the referral, 16 (57.1%) provided information on the type of service or resource they had difficulty accessing. Parents most frequently reported that counseling or family counseling was the service they had requested from Head Start Staff and had difficulty in contacting or receiving. In the 2012-2013 End-of-the-Year Parent Survey, child care was the service or resource most often cited as difficult to access. This year, child care remained near the top of the list as it was listed by five of the 16 parents. Chart 12 presents the type of services or resources that parents had difficulty in contacting or receiving.

Of the 28 parents who reported that they had difficulty contacting or receiving a service or resource, more than half (67.9%) were Spanish-speaking. English-speaking parents comprised 32.1% of the parents who had difficulty with a referral provided by Head Start staff.
Chase was the Head Start Center with the greatest percentage of parents (25.5%) who requested a referral for a service or resource from staff. All but two Head Start Centers had at least one parent who had difficulty contacting or receiving a referral. Sherwood was the center with the highest percentage of parents (17.9%) who indicated that they had difficulty contacting or receiving a service or resource. No parents from CDI and Robert Fulton indicated that they had difficulty with a referral. Table 2 shows the percentage and number of participants who requested a referral and indicated they had difficulty with a resource or service referred to them by Head Start Staff. The centers with the greatest and lowest percentages are highlighted in yellow.
