CHART 17: Centers with the highest percentage of parents reporting barriers to participation by barrier
Understanding that language and time of day may be two of the factors that prevent parents from participating, parents were asked about their preferences. Findings in the 2011-2012 and 2012- 2013 End-of-the-Year Parent Survey demonstrated that language and time of day were barriers for a greater percentage of Spanish-speaking parents than English-speaking parents. Results from the current survey complement previous findings. Additionally, parents preferred to participate in committee meetings, trainings, and events held in Spanish (49.1%) and during the morning hours (52.5%). The language preference indicated in this survey is slightly different than that reported in the Parent Training Report described on the next page.
