The factors that parents wrote to describe the circumstances that would make their housing better included the following:
 A house where children are happy and welcomed.
 Management that is consistent with the needs of the tenants. Management that's familiar with the tenant’s history.
 Unit with updated appliances.
 If the landlord would fix everything
that is damaged and rusted and make
it safer for families.
 More security.
 Security and clean laundromats.
 For manager to stop being racist.
 An individual apartment.
 A landlord who consistently
maintains the cleanliness of the
building.
 How to get rid of the cockroaches.
The greatest percentage of English-speaking parents (74.3%) and Spanish-speaking parents (74.5%) indicated that more affordable housing would improve their housing situation. Table 4 presents the percentage of English and Spanish-speaking parents for each housing factor. The greatest percentages are highlighted.

Parents from Tulsa had the greatest percentage of parents (91.7%) who indicated that their housing would be better if it was more affordable. Chart 25 on the following page presents the greatest percentage of parents for each housing factor by Head Start Center.
