   NEWLY LICENSED PROVIDERS
As of January 1, 2016, newly licensed providers MUST take an EMSA-approved 8-hour Health & Safety course that now includes the one hour of EMSA-approved nutrition curriculum.
Only new licensees have to take the Preventative Health and Safety training that includes the nutrition module. Providers who received their license prior to January 1, 2016 do not have to take the training that includes the nutrition module.
The nutrition module is NOT ALLOWED to be a stand-alone course. It is part of the full 8-hour Preventive Health and Safety Practices course.
Unfortunately, some providers whose licensing process straddles both 2015 and 2016
may have to repeat the Preventative Health and Safety training in order to comply with the new nutrition law. This means that child care providers who began their licensing process in 2015 but will complete it in 2016 will have to take the full 8-hour Health & Safety course in order to receive nutrition training and be in compliance with the law.
Good News! CCRC offers all required Health and Safety trainings! Visit CCRC’s website at www.ccrcca.org for a list of what’s coming up!
