Page 79 - PROGRAM IMPACT AND SATIFACTION AS SEEN THROUGH THE EYES OF HEAD START PARENTS
P. 79

Figure 13: Sherwood: What can be done to improve the Head Start program?
 More information on how to participate as a parent in class.
 More parent involvement.
 Everyone is doing great and I am really happy with my child's growth and learning progress.
 I think children should be able to celebrate holidays just like they will in elementary. Also they
should be able to use little graduation caps since they are graduating from preschool into
elementary. It's an achievement.
 Allow the kids to be able to celebrate different holidays.
 Have children more prepared to enter kindergarten. Be more academically prepared, for example
use more high frequency words, rainbow words, letter recognition, sound of each letter, rhyming,
work with common core guidelines.
 More parent involvement programs.
 I'm really happy with the program as it is.
 More parent involvement.
 Provide some more parking! But overall I'm happy how the staff treats everyone equally.
 The Head Start program at Sherwood is great. I would not change anything about the program.
 I feel that the kids that know a little more should be pushed a little harder.
 More classes.
 Progress reports from the beginning to the end to help parents help improve [their child’s] skills.
 Parking situation at this Head Start was horrible.
 Nothing really. Just to make sure the sand isn't brought home. Sand is inside the shoes.
 Clean the classrooms.
 I wish the parents were able to participate more in the classroom with the children.
 There should be a better way to check who is picking up kids from school. Example: ask for ID.
 Better communication.
 Parking for parents!
 I am very satisfied with the program. My son learned a lot.
 I think the school schedule should be an hour longer.
 Speaking to the parents when an issue occurs with the children instead of calling the police first.
 Continue being kind and concerned for the students' wellbeing and communicating with the
parents.
 Extend the hours and allow younger children.
 I think the teachers should pay more attention to the students and communicate with them more.
 I am very satisfied with the program and all the help my daughter received.
 I think it is a great program as is.
 I enjoyed everything about the program. My one suggestion is having evening activities to allow
parents to participate after work.
 I think it is a great program.
 Thank you Head Start. I am very satisfied with the program.
 I'm happy at how we were treated. The entire staff did a great job. Thank you
 I don't like that the children are all in the bathroom at the same time. Some using the facilities
while the others watch.
 The program is excellent. It helped me and my son a lot.
 I don't think the program needs any changes.
 To maintain the same teachers in each classroom and not move them around the centers.
 Continue supporting our children and us as parents. Thank you for the support.
 I feel very happy and satisfied with everything my son has learned.
