The gift of literacy opens a world of possibilities and equips children with the knowledge and skills to succeed in school and in life.

CCRC’s commitment to bridging the gap in children’s literacy began in 2009 when we set a goal to collect and distribute 100,000 books to children and families. Thanks to generous donations from donors, organizations, and community members – we reached that goal in دسامبر 2009.

For 16 years, our What A  Difference  A BOOK Makes campaign has since distributed 1.6 million books to children, families, and child care providers across the 22,500 square miles service area of Northern Los Angeles and San Bernardino Counties. These books are distributed at our family play days, holiday giveaway events, and we have free books available at each of our CCRC Lobbies which are open to the community.

The work continues, and we need your help to combat these alarming statistics:

• 1 in 4 children grows up not knowing how to read in the United States
• California has the second lowest literacy rate at 71.6%
• 45 million Americans cannot read above a fifth grade reading level

Help us bridge the literacy gap! Because reading shouldn’t be a privilege – it’s a child’s right.

Ways to get involved.

• Donate new or gently read books: English or Spanish children’s books for ages 0-13 are welcomed! Email us for details.
• Host a collection bin: Whether at your home, school, or office we can get you the supplies you need to get started. Submit your interest.
• Make a tax-deductible donation. Donate today!
