For many families with young children, access to affordable child care is key to finding and maintaining employment. Quality early learning programs have immediate and long-term bene ts for children and their families working to get out of poverty. CalWORKs is California’s implementation of the Federal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program, providing cash assistance and supportive services to eligible families with children.

Medi-Cal, California’s Medicaid program, provides needed health care services for families with children, persons with disabilities, children in foster care, pregnant women and people with specific diseases.
