For leading the way in father engagement with our Nurturing Fathers program, CCRC is being honored with the Shine a Light award.
The ceremony hosted by Children’s Network of San Bernardino County in early Апрель honors individuals and organizations that make an impact in the lives of children and families in the San Bernardino County community. “Each year, we kick off Child Abuse Prevention Month with this event as a powerful reminder of the light that shines through acts of kindness, advocacy, and service,” the organization said of its awards. “The honorees we recognize today ensure that children facing adversity find hope, support, and a path to a brighter future.”

CCRC received the Father Engagement Award for our various father-focused initiatives that use evidence-based parenting education to foster emotional awareness and hands-on parenting skills, specifically the Nurturing Fathers program. This program provides a safe space to deepen caregivers’ knowledge on attitudes and strengthen skills in conflict resolution, anger management, and self-nurturing.
“As fathers, we don’t really take the roles of fathers. Just because we are thinking about work, earning money, we take them out now and then. We think this is enough for the role of the father, but no. Fatherhood is also collaborating with your wife, your home, with the children,” said Oliver Arturo Garcia, a participant in our Love, Dads program. “The truth is it helped my health a lot because I feel like people are looking out for and worried about me, my family, and the growth of my children. I am not alone. They are always supporting each other in the group to be able to talk about the children, any doubts, any annoyances I have – I can always talk, I am not alone. I have confidence in speaking with them.”

The County recognized us for our Dad’s Café, which offers a supportive space for fathers to share experiences, develop parenting strategies and build a stronger network of father figures. “Their advocacy for father involvement extends beyond programs, as they promote fatherhood initiatives in podcasts, community events, and educational seminars,” said Children’s Initiative of our programs. “CCRC’s commitment to sustained father engagement ensures their programs continue to grow and reach new families, fostering stronger parent-child relationships.”
We are proud to receive this reward and are grateful to recognized among other organizations, such as Life Builders, Inc. and Morongo Tribal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) San Bernardino Conference Center. To learn more about Nurturing Fathers, visit our blog.
