A recent meeting between early care and education providers from the San Bernardino region and District Representatives serving the greater San Bernardino area strengthened relationships between individuals and organizations serving families.
The Early Care and Education Lunch & Learn event was hosted by CCRC and held at our San Bernardino Office in early September. Representatives from local, state, and federal offices heard directly from providers about their programs. Attendees included representatives from ECE Voices:
- James Moses, CCRC’s Regional Director, Region 10 Advocacy Leader
- Jennifer Portillo, Senior Government Relations Specialist, Region 10 Advocacy Leader
- Kaylene Guerrero, Community Development Administrative Assistant
- Pam Robinson, Region 10 Advocacy Leader
- Jennifer Carter, Region 10 Advocacy Leader
- ECE Voices advocate members and non-members
And from District Offices:
- Prince Ogidikpe, From Office of Assemblymember Eloise Gomez Reyes
- Michael Glauser, From Office of Senator Rosilicie Ochoa Bogh
- Marcopolo Anzora, From Office of Congressman Pete Aguilar,
- Edwin Delgado, From Office of Board of Supervisors
Providers learned how to contact the staff members. Providers laid out the challenges faced by the field so staff members can bring that information back to their legislator’s office. Advocates also got to learn from one another about the resources available to them and shared their own experiences in their work.
CCRC is planning two more Lunch and Learn Events for Riverside and the High Desert. We intend to continue reaching out to representatives of Region 10 (California – Great Basin) to support the development of relationships among one another in the ECE advocacy space.
