November Armenian reading event for children

The author of an Armenian children’s book will lead a reading event for kids in November.

Quality Start Los Angeles (QSLA) is hosting the bilingual reading event on November 16 from 6-7 pm on Zoom. Author Taline Badrikian, founder of Kids Reading America, will share her personal story before reading her book Happy Piggy. The event will also feature an arts and crafts activity for children and families.

The story is about animal friends playing together and a little piggy who could use a bath. Pigs are usually muddy and smelly, but the animals learn to accept their friend despite these characteristics, and they continue playing.

The virtual event is free to anyone who wants to attend. Participants will receive a free copy of the book. Register here.

Taline decided to write this book after5 she had her first child and realized there was a gap in Armenian children’s books, specifically those written in the Western Armenian dialect. She decided to write her own book and successfully funded its publication in under 24 hours via Kickstarter in 2016.

Taline has successfully written and published four books in Armenian and English.

Taline’s stories are fun and message-driven with adorable illustrations.
