Over 10,000 toys and books wrapped in ONE day.
Chatsworth, CA, December 3, 2014 – This Saturday, December 6, 2014, Child Care Resource Center will host its 3rd Annual Holiday Community Wrapping Event at their Chatsworth, Palmdale and San Bernardino locations. Over 300 volunteers will be volunteering their time to wrap books and toys from 10am to 1pm.
The number of volunteers has increased significantly each year the event has been offered with just 25 people the first year! “We are overwhelmed with the support we are receiving from the communities we serve. This is a great volunteer opportunity for local residents to give back. And, it is important to note that everything we collect and distribute stays in our service area, said CCRC’s Business and Community Development Manager, Bill Swindle.
All books and toys will be wrapped and personalized for children in CCRC’s Head Start and Early Head Start, Family Child Care Home Education Network, Motheread, and other programs within our 22,500 square mile service area.
Why do we help?
It is hard to believe but there are close to 330,000 children, just in CCRC’s service area, currently living below the Federal poverty level. Every year CCRC collects and distributes 10,000 books and toys to make the holidays a little brighter for these deserving kids.
