Thank you to our donors for supporting CCRC’s Home for the Holidays event

During a year of unprecedented financial hardship and health concerns, many families are struggling this holiday season just to put food on the table, let alone provide gifts for their children.

But thanks to our countless individual donors and large corporate sponsors, Child Care Resource Center is able to make the holidays a little brighter for 2,500 families through our Home for the Holidays meal, book and toy drive. We are thankful for every donation and want to recognize donors who made exceptional contributions this year.

Matadors Community Credit Union, Pacific Premier Bank, CCRC Board Member-at-large Romalis Taylor and Board Treasurer Anthony Pena all made sizeable donations this year to help CCRC meet our ambitious $62,500 fundraising goal.

Matadors Community Credit Union, which neighbors CCRC’s Chatsworth headquarters, has made generous donations to our agency year after year. Marnie Nemcoff, the credit union’s vice president of marketing, said the decision to support CCRC in our mission to strengthen families is an easy choice.

“The spirit of the season is not necessarily about giving, but about helping those who need help,” Nemcoff says. “Right now, especially, CCRC helping these families is more important than ever because a lot of people are out of work, not by their own choice. They need this assistance and we don’t want any child to go hungry or not have diapers or other essentials they need.”

At a time when many organizations across southern California are calling for donations, Nemcoff says Matadors Community Credit Union is proud to offer continued support to CCRC.

“We’ve been a longtime supporter of CCRC, you are our neighbor and we like what you do for the community,” Nemcoff says. “The kids are our future and it’s important to provide them essentials they need.”

Anthony Pena, CCRC’s Board of Directors treasurer, made a personal donation to our Home for the Holidays drive in an effort to help families in the same community where he was raised.

“This event is close to my heart because it’s helping families in my home community,” Pena said. “Many don’t have access to child care or even food or education. So many programs and events facilitated by CCRC make real, measurable impacts on our local community.”

The holidays aren’t just a time for unwrapping gifts, Pena says, but rather a time to focus on what matters most: family.

“It’s good to take some time away from work and other priorities and spend time with family,” Pena said. “Be thankful for what you have; health, family, employment. Important to give back and help out those who may not have all the resources. Hopefully we can come together to give families in need something that gets them through these difficult times.”

CCRC is grateful for the support and generosity of our donors. We couldn’t support children and families without them. No donation is ever too small and every dollar makes a difference. CCRC is still accepting donations for our Home for the Holidays event and you can donate by clicking here.
