Chatsworth Porter Ranch Chamber of Commerce’s Unforgettable Educator Awards contest

The Chatsworth Porter Ranch Chamber of Commerce held the 2016 Unforgettable Educator Awards on May 12th at the Porter Valley Country Club. This event recognizes those educators who, through their special skills, heart and dedication, have made an indelible impression on their students and community. Over 100 people were in attendance.

In addition to recognizing Principal of the year, PTA President of the year and other titles, local schools competed in a book drive contest. Books collected were donated to the Child Care Resource Center to support the What a Difference a BOOK Makes campaign.

Thanks to the local schools that participated CCRC received 2,000 books that will be distributed to children and families in the San Fernando Valley. Schools included Chatsworth Hills Academy, Castlebay Lane Elementary and Lawrence Middle School.

“CCRC is proud of the partnership we have with the Chatsworth/Porter Ranch Chamber of Commerce and appreciate their help in bringing awareness to the importance of literacy. The fact that our local schools are teaching children about philanthropy and donating their books so other children will have one is a great thing”, said Bill Swindle, Business and Community development Manager.

Over the past few years, this contest has garnered over 20,000 books that have been donated to the agency.

Each year, CCRC collects and distributes 100,000 books throughout our 25,000 square mile service area.
