In January 2022, Child Care Resource Center (CCRC) welcomed our first Division of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) under the supervision of Dr. Michael Olenick. The Division is led by Dr. Sarah Toutant, Director of DEI, who is responsible for aligning CCRC’s workforce with the agency’s DEI strategy through compliance, advocacy, and education. In addition to the work being done internally, CCRC also has had a long history of advocating and serving historically underrepresented clients in the San Fernando Valley, Santa Clarita Valley, Antelope Valley as well as the entirety of San Bernardino County.

CCRC was founded on a foundational goal of providing quality childcare, development, and education services for families. Since 1976, CCRC has served underrepresented and economically disproportionate communities. DEI work is not only pivotal in cultivating child, family and community well-being, but also integral to CCRC’s core values:

Defining Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion

  • Diversity: the practice of acknowledging and involving people from a range of different social backgrounds, experiences, interests and perspectives.
  • Equity: the recognition that each person has different circumstances that may require resources and opportunities needed to reach an equal outcome.
  • Inclusion: the acceptance and involvement of any individual or group to fully participate and contribute.

As CCRC’s workforce, programs and services for children, parents and providers have grown over the last four decades, we continue to work towards cultivating an environment that is more diverse, equitable and inclusive for all.
