Stand Tall Parenting & CCRC unite Sep. 16 to offer families resources

Family well-being depends on a number of factors, like parenting skills, financial health, and child care. To help families address these various needs, CCRC is proud to partner with Stand Tall Parenting for an event in the San Fernando Valley on September 16.

“Finances, physical and mental health, and child care needs are all connected in terms of cultivating family well-being,” said CCRC Inclusion Supervisor Shawntel Williams. “Our goal is for families to leave with a new understanding of healthy parenting strategies, decreased stress, and new connections.”

Stand Tall Parenting provides evidence-based education for families to decrease parenting stress, establish healthy parenting strategies, and to provide a space for on-going support. At this upcoming event, 15 vendors will offer free services, resources and advisement on education, employment, networking and more.

On-site job interviews with Stand Strong, Starbucks and other employers, as well as a resume building workshop, will be available to those seeking employment. Guidance on enrolling in higher education is also on offer.

Parents are invited to shop the tables of free professional clothing. Child care will be provided by CCRC, which is also educating families on child care financial assistance aand our other family programs and resources.

Some of the other vendors include Tarzana Treatment Center, Strength United, Economics for Women, the YMCA, and Kids Community Dental Clinic. There will also be educational materials and conversation related to recognizing and responding to domestic violence.

“The domestic violence education is for everyone, whether you’re a survivor or not,” said Williams. “You’ll learn signs of domestic violence and what to do in that situation.”

The event takes place from 10 am to 2pm. Families in need of child care services at the event should register in advance.
