Texting service connects families with nearby free meals for kids

A Free Meals Finder text message service connects families and caregivers to information about free meals for children.

No Kid Hungry is a nationwide nonprofit that works to eradicate child hunger in America. According to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), around 11 million children in the U.S. live in a food insecure home. The pandemic revealed many gaps in the resources available to the nation’s most vulnerable and, with many children learning remotely, the one guaranteed school meal some students depended on is no longer an option.

Many schools, churches and community centers are providing families with children under age 18 a free meal and a helpful tool offered by No Kid Hungry makes finding those locations simple.
