Chill out with this watermelon fan craft idea

Keeping cool during these hot summer months can be a challenge and finding activities to keep kids entertained away from that heat can be even more difficult. This watermelon fan craft achieves both!

Supplies

  • Paper plates
  • Markers
  • Scissors (for adult use)
  • Popsicle sticks
  • Glue

Step 1: An adult should cut the paper plates in half, so each plate makes two fans. This will be the outline for the watermelon.

Step 2: Instruct each child to color in their watermelon, using pink or red for the inside and green for the edge. They can add on seeds to complete their juicy fruit.

Step 3: Help children use non-toxic glue to attach a popsicle stick to the back of their watermelon, gluing about 2 inches of the stick vertically to the middle of the bottom of the curved portion of the plate.

Step 4: After the glue has dried for about an hour to 90 minutes, kids can use it to fan themselves.
