CCRC’s Board of Directors Visits the State Capitol

On Wednesday May 16th, 2018, seven members of the CCRC Board of Directors joined our Government Relations team in Sacramento for CCRC’s annual Board of Directors Day at the Capitol! Each May we meet with our local representatives and their staff to present our policy priorities and share the impact we have on families and child care providers.

This year we visited 8 legislative offices and met with 4 elected officials. While visiting, we handed out personalized copies of our agency books containing district-specific information about child care supply and demand, the dollar investments, and how many children are being served in in each State Senator or Assembly member’s district.
Our number one policy priority is to add more child care slots to make child care more accessible and affordable for California families! This coincides with the ECE Coalition and Legislative Women’s Caucus ask of a #BillionForBabies. We are fighting for a $1 billion investment in child care could create 100,000 more slots to serve California children.

Our Board members had a great time at the Capitol, where they were able to share their unique perspectives on the importance of child care in their lives as well as take selfies with the elected officials we met with! It was a great opportunity for them to see our new Sacramento Office, nicknamed the “Sandbox” for its collaborative and playful vibe. The Government Relations team is appreciative that so many Board members were able to join us for this year’s Board Day at the Capitol visits and we look forward to hosting in Sacramento again next year!
